Getting Ready—Expanding Horizons and Expanding Resources
I decided to choose the alternative assignment for Part 1.  What I look for when I am selecting an early childhood organization is twofold.  First, I research the organization by navigating through its website to seek information on the services it provides.  Then, because I truly care about special needs children and children who are living in poverty and/or who come from low-income families, I research the resources that are available to those children and their parents.  The website that I decided to study is from the World Forum Foundation.  The World Forum Foundation (2017) has resources for children with special needs and for children’s play. The website is: https://connect.worldforumfoundation.org/
Hi Teresa!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your post! I am so interested in hearing more about your research with The World Forum Foundation. I am especially interested in their work and research behind play, as this is something I'm always looking to infuse more into my Kindergarten classroom. I am also excited to hear more about resources this organization makes available to children and families, as this is another goal I have as a Kindergarten teacher: providing my children and families with as many additional resources and systems of support as possible. Thanks so much for sharing!
Best,
Renee
Thank you for taking the time to address the need to look at resources that support children with special needs. I am interested to learn with you how this resource provides supports for children with special needs in the early childhood field.

Hello Teresa,
ReplyDeleteWere you able to access any of the podcasts? I was bummed I couldn't, I even tried googling it. I however was able to find a World Forum Foundation facebook page which I ended up following, after looking on there it was interesting to see the educational professionals that shared their stories and the range of issues in early education around the world. I like your process in researching the services that you can offer the families you come in contact with, I find myself researching a lot of local programs that my families are able to utilize/ participate in.
Thanks for sharing,
Britny Payton

Nice and informative post Teresa. I learned a great deal that quick about your deep interest in special needs children. I look forward to reading what you have to share, I have two nephews who are special needs autism and the youngest I would love to direct his mother to read your post. She definitely could use more avenues, resources and support.
