Final Blog Assignment
There are many outcomes that I gleaned from learning about the early childhood field from an international perspective. For instance, according to Hale (2014), there are three consequences that early childhood practitioners learn about how the field is enduring overseas. She writes,
The first consequence of learning about the international early childhood field is that as early childhood educators, we live in a world that calls for continuous change, and therefore, information on best practices and best policies can be utilized throughout the world. The second consequence of learning about the international childhood field is that having an awareness has to be developed. When early childhood practitioners are unaware of their students, the students’ families, and of themselves, then the opportunity for discussion and growth cannot be established so that all parties understand the willingness to be invested in children’s development and children’s education. There are plenty of resources that can be accessed throughout the globe, but the international childhood community has to be able to tap into them. The third consequence is the success of any educational program can only be a result of full participation from children and their families. (p. 1).
My hope is for the international early childhood field is that all children despite their cultural background, socioeconomic status, and gender should be able to obtain an education that can assist children with elevating their progress in their development. Educators should also be able to throw their biases out the window and respect the diversity that their students display throughout the classroom. As a result, curriculums and other resources should be accessible to accommodate all children’s needs and dreams.

ReplyDeleteHi Teresa,
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more that all children should have access to quality education. Educators should not have biases when it comes to the families or children they work with. I have enjoyed reading your blog each week. Thanks for sharing.

Teresa,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your thoughts and insights throughout this course. I wholeheartedly agree that curriculum, programs, and educators need to abandon any biases in order to better meet the needs of diverse children. The better we are able to self-reflect as professionals, I believe the bigger capacity we have to learn, grow, and ultimately meet the needs of our children.
Thank you for sharing I agree with you on so much, education is always changing and professional development is one goal to always keep up on.
ReplyDeleteWell put Teresa! Enjoyed reading your final blog. I could not agree with you more about your three consequences "Best Practices, Awareness and Success"! It definitely will take time for international early childhood programs to develop fully to some of the standards and levels the United States are, but both international and U.S. all have a long way to go to someday get on one accord with the same everything.
ReplyDeleteBest wishies and continued success.

Teresa,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post. I agree that curriculums should be designed to meet the needs of all children regardless to background or culture. At the head start program I work at, there is a child that is Arabic. So her teacher have to add some Arabic things in her curriculum.
Thank you for reminding that our calls are for continuous change, and therefore, information on best practices and best policies can be utilized throughout the world.
ReplyDeleteTeresa,
