In my capstone project I am focusing on child poverty. There is so many things that children have to face in early childhood and we as educators must help them overcome them in order for them to receive a quality education. I believe the National Center for Children in Poverty will be beneficial in helping me gain insight as I continue to research better ways in helping children overcome poverty in early childhood education.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa. The challenge I have decided to focus on is helping children and families experiencing homelessness. The organizations you have chosen are similar to some of the organizations I have chosen as my ideal communities of practice. These agencies have long been supporting homeless and other at-risk families gain safe, affordable housing, gainful employment and childcare so they can maintain employment and housing in an effort to enhance their quality of life. Additionally, the position of research associate is one that would be most beneficial in working with the community by researching the causes and teaming up with other organizations and agencies to find solutions to assist in eliminating homelessness and meeting the needs of struggling families obtain quality child care so they can provide for what they need to maintain a better quality of life for themselves and their child/children on a continuous basis.
